I’ve been siting on cruisers, crotch rockets, and standards. Some people say “start with a 250.” Some say “you won’t be able to get out of your own way on a 250.” I found the cruisers just too much of a stretch for my short frame. The crotch rockets with the low-mounted clip-ons were uncomfortable. The standards, though, were (as Goldilocks would say) just right. But even though I had decided on a type, I didn’t find any one bike irresistible.
Until I saw The One, illuminated by a shaft of sunlight in the showroom (at least, that’s how I remember it). I saw the silver 2003 SV650 and immediately fell in love. It seemed to fit perfectly. I gave them a deposit on the spot.
I arranged for a ride so I could come back the next day to pick it up.
